We are the Jeske family. Since 2004 we have been running our family business, a holiday park in Oostmahorn. Oostmahorn is located in the Lauwersmeer National Park. Here you can relax and enjoy nature. It is a beautiful area for cycling, walking, paddle-boarding, or sailing with a boat. We rent holiday homes that are located in the holiday park and holiday homes that are located directly at the Lauwersmeer. There is a small beach at the Lauwersmeer and a playground for the children in the park and for people who like stargazing: This is the darkest area in the Netherlands!
It’s wonderful to stay here. That is why we are open all year round and we warmly welcome you.
Check-in is not possible on Sundays.
- Check-in: arrival time from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
- If pets are allowed in the house, we charge EUR 5 per pet per day.
- Bed linen /towels/ tea towels can be brought along or booked for a fee:
-1 bed linen package: 12.50 EUR.
-1 set of towels: EUR 5.
- Fishing license (valid throughout Friesland) price: 15 EUR per week.
- Barbecuing is allowed.
- Smoking in the house will result in loss of the security deposit.
Property info
House ‘Marijke’ with its large conservatory and a wood-burning stove, is located directly at the shore of lake Lauwersmeer and offers spectacular views of both the lake and the National Park.
Pets are welcome.

The large conservatory forms the entrance to holiday house ‘Marijke’. It’s an uniquely well furnished room leading up to the centre of this big house: the dining room. The dining area as well as the living room are comfortably furnished. The kitchen is very well equipped and all rooms offer splendid views on the lake.
Holiday home ‘Marijke’ has three bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, one a queen bed and one a bunk bed. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower.

‘Marijke’ has a roofed terrace, a beautiful fenced garden with a barbecue-area and its own access to the water.

There are three German channels and dutch cable tv, the use of wifi and washing machine is free of charge and ‘Marijke’ has a height difference of 2 steps in the house. Baby cot and high chair are available additionally on request.
Neighborhood info
Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts.
The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, bird watchers, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog.
Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here.
In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar.
Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland.
To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’.
A boat-tour, or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well.
With the title Dark Sky Park, in Lauwersmeer National Park you can truly experience nature in the dark!
