PLEASE NOTE: While this property has 3 separate sleep areas, it only has one bedroom with a door, the other two areas do not have strict privacy. A guest has alerted us that the toilet is listed as separate while it is, in fact, situated inside the bathroom. (Booking arranges these descriptions and it's not possible to amend them.) Additionally, this is an old house with its original features intact and while we work hard to keep it clean and well-maintained, if you're looking for a pristine environment, this is not a good choice. While there is a child gate on top of the stairway, this property has not been fully child-proofed and families with young children should be aware there's an open staircase with a tile floor underneath. While central heating will take care of it pretty quickly, because of the nature of the location and the house (below sea-level), if it has been raining a lot, the house can feel a little damp at first. If you've read through these limitations, please know that the house is charming and cosy, has a great view and garden and many people love it and come back time after time!

My husband and I moved to New York City as students and have lived there ever since. If we don't always respond promptly, it's because we're 6 hours behind in time... This house has been in our family for over 60 years and this is our go-to whenever we are in the Netherlands. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. Due to the fact that we are not on premise, breakfast is not included in this package, but please feel free to use the stapels in the kitchen. We are happy to answer any questions via email or text.

The beach is 10 minutes away by car, half hour on bike. The biking in this area is absolutely wonderful. Great food everywhere: fish, oysters, mussles, local produce. For a bit of old world elegance, visit Knokke and stroll on the boulevard, for a dip into history, take a boatride along the canals of Bruges. There is so much to offer, it's hard to list it all. There is a train to station (Vlissingen) and then ferry and bus service to and from the ferry. Bus service as well to most other places: Bruges and Knokke. Sluis is in walking distance and lots of places can be reached by bike (rented closeby). It's good to have a car but not absolutely necessary. To get there by air, best would be to fly to Brussels (closest) or Amsterdam.
