Bøness Art Studio Welcome to my house and to my family's farm. You are coming to a place with a lot of history. This house was built by my mother, Britt Boutros Ghali, a famous artist who lives in Egypt for the last forty years. The house was built in the mid-eighties, but the farm itself has been in our family for endless generations.

Hi, my name is Paul and I am your goto guy. I'm a homestay father and artist. I have lived here in Vesterållen for over 20 years. I am also developing a cultural center in a small fishing village called Nyksund, which is a must see. Looking forward to facilitating your stay in this magical place.

The barn is very old, but still in use. Our neighbors the Hjelle farm keep their sheep there during the winter. They also farm our land. So you might wake up one morning to a horse in the back or maybe some friendly sheep or cows strolling around. Terje and Veronika Hjelle run the dairy farm next door. They speak English well and are very friendly. You might enjoy seeing their state of the art dairy farm. They use a robotic milking system, which is very high tech and impressive. If you enjoy working the hay for exercise, I'm sure they would be delighted for an extra hand. You will see a lot of artwork in the house from many artists from the North, which I hope you will enjoy. Another great artist, Bjørn Elvenes, lives across the stream and up the hill. He is responsible for painting Sortland blue and for Sortland now being referred to as "Blåbyen", "Blue Town." There is easy access to the mountain for hiking or in the winter skiing. The guest house is located very strategically on the island with close access to all your adventures you might want. Also close to town for shopping.
