Birtavarre is an excellent place for culture and hiking-experiences, and hunt for the northern lights or the midnight sun. Easiest and fastest hike to Ráisduottarháldi and Halti, the highest mountain in Finland. Nearest city to the Sabetjohk mountain landscape, the easiest gate to Gorsa canyon and Gorsabrua (Gorsa bridge), Lake Goulas, Halti and Birtavarre mountains, Reisa national park, and more. (Summer road up to 800m.) Many signposted trails and available maps. Birtavarre is also close to the villages, fjord and alps in Great-Lyngen and Reisadalen. (Lyngen, Kåfjord, Storfjord, Nordreisa -municipal.) With car, only a daytrip/445km from North Cape and 620 km from The Polar Cirkel Center on Saltfjellet (E6, 80 km. north of Mo I Rana). Airports within 1 or 2.5 hours: Sørkjosen 65km, Bardufoss 156km, Tromsø 170km. Airports within 3.5 or 4 hours: Alta 235km, Evenes 280km. Airport in Bodø: 9 hours/575km.
