Trine, is the owner and the person that has been running the company called BIRK husky since 2002 is a qualified teacher and teach full time in addition to having this guesthouse and cabins. The spring of 2024 almonst all sleddogs were sold and changed the name to BIRK bed & birds. Along with the family (husband and 4 children), we have built up the place in the following years. Tor, Trines husband work as a leader at the hydro electric power stations that is in the river between Norway and Russia. For special interested there might be possible to get a guided tour to one of the stations.

Property info

BIRK bed & birds is built around our home, here we have both our little Bed&B irds guesthouse and cottages you can rent as your accommodation for one to several nights. In addition, we have 2 huskies and some chickens. The entire facility is located on parts of the farmland my father grew up on. My grandparents built up the farm and was among the first settlers starting farming in Pasvik. Around us, we have hung up many birdboxes and made a birdbath you can explore, we do have several bird-feeders that attracts many birds and some squirrels throughout the year. The guesthouse have 7 rooms for rent, no meals are included. The kitchen is available for self catering, please keep this and the rest of the house tidy and nice during your stay so all guests feel welcome. The house should also be left tidy and nice when you leave. The cabins has small kitchenets, no meals or end cleaning included. Here you make your own food and clean the cabin before you leave again. Cabins are rented out for minimum 2 nights at the time. They do not have running water or a bathrom inside. Shared batroom in the main house few meters from the cabins.

Neighborhood info

We live right at the border to Russia. The border runs in the Pasvik river that runs right below our houses and the boundary is where the river is deepest - not necessarily in the middle. This river is like a chain of lakes linked by narrow parts. We live amidst the beautiful Pasvikdalen with rich flora and fauna. Here we have the most varied animal life in Norway, wolf, wolverine, lynx and last but not least the brown bear. Right here you find Norway's largest and densest bear population, we find it to be without any major problems. The bear remains mostly in the woods and we have no known confrontations between bears and human in the valley, no reason whatsoever to be scared. In addition we have 5 families living out of reindeer herding - the traditional way and we do have a population of moose. Furthermore, we have a rich bird life, with well over 200 different species recorded are we together with coastal species around Varangerfjord one of the best tourist destinations in Scandinavia for bird lovers.
