Surrounded by native bush and birdsong, it’s an off-grid escape where you can swim, relax, and reconnect with nature. Danseys Pass Holiday Park sits in the heart of North Otago’s striking landscapes and rich heritage. We are in a remote location, a 40-minute drive from Oamaru and 25-minute drive from Kurow where you can find the nearest supermarket. 10km north is the village of Duntroon, which offers local charm with the Flying Pig Café, historic Duntroon Hotel, Nichols’ Blacksmith Shop, and the Vanished World Centre — a volunteer-run museum showcasing the area’s incredible geology. Nearby, you’ll find dramatic natural sites like Elephant Rocks, Valley of the Whales, and ancient Māori rock art — favourites among geologists and explorers alike. Tokarahi Golf Course offers a scenic 9-hole round just minutes away, and the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail runs close by for cyclists. The stunning Danseys Pass Road links directly to the Otago Central Rail Trail. In winter, Awakino Ski Field is a relaxed, club-run alpine option only 35 minutes from the park.
