The Vale Guest Wing is part of an architecturally designed home located in a gentle fold of the Durie Valley. Rolling hills embrace the property and its north-facing situation allows it to receive maximum sunshine year-round. The land has established gardens and lawns for you to explore - as well as a small native woodland at its farthest end, through which a small stream flows on its way to the Whanganui River. Birdlife abounds and several New Zealand native eels have made the stream their home. The guest wing is private and cosy with electric blankets on each of the beds and an electric heater to keep the lounge comfortable in winter. In summer the double doors in each of the bedrooms can be opened to allow a free flow of air to circulate through the space. The bedrooms are spacious and include built-in wardrobes and sets of drawers. Quality Sheridan cotton sheets (or equivalent) are provided. The Queen Bedroom also offers a three-seater leather sofa. This room is ideal as a dressing room should only one bedroom be required. In the lounge is a Smart TV, a two-seater sofa and two single armchairs. There is also a compact kitchenette comprising electric jug, microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower with double heated towel rails and large quality bath sheets supplied. The toilet is separate. We also provide additional spa towels along with non-breakable acrylic wine glasses and champagne flutes for use in the spa

Over the years Lois and I have travelled extensively and love meeting people from all parts of the world. Returning home to New Zealand a few years ago, we stumbled upon Whanganui by chance and found our piece of paradise in a hidden valley only minutes from town. Simply heaven. We love the art scene here, the warmth of the people, the spiritual significance of the River and Whanganui's proximity to mountains, the ocean and the capital city, Wellington.
