We've owned this charming property for nearly 30 years and have enjoyed turning it into something a bit special -- our Hawkes Bay bolthole. We don't get there as often as we'd like, which is why we're happy to share it with others. It is small, as the name suggests, but has everything that you need for a short stay.

I'm a writer from Auckland with an eclectic mix of interests. We are experienced travellers and also have a popular holiday house in Queenstown.

The Snug is just around the corner from one of the most vibrant parts of Hawkes Bay -- some are calling it the French Quarter, others Eat Street but I prefer the Opera House precinct. Ours must just about be the closest accommodation to Toitoi, the new Hawkes Bay Arts and Events Centre. This is a revitalized end of town with a wonderful French bakery, cafes, restaurants, a health food shop, a great secondhand bookshop, a movie theatre and a gym all within easy walking distance. There's a funky bar and late night music venue called The Common Room that is well worth a visit.
