Perched atop a forest clad cliff on the southernmost tip of Taal Lake, sits Ataalaya, a rural retreat that celebrates the heritage and traditions of Old Batangas, yet offers the comforts of modern living. Ataalaya's design is described as a Colonial Melange - blending elements of Cape Dutch and Indian styles with Philippine traditional architecture, creating the ambiance of a colonial plantation home. Its most striking feature is the breathtaking vista of Taal Lake-- featuring Taal Volcano itself, the lake's islands, and, most remarkably, majestic Mount Maculot, dominating the lakescape. This is the side of Taal Lake that most visitors have never seen, with its jungle backdrop, unusual flora and fauna, and the absence of urban sprawl. Ataalaya is an ideal bed and breakfast for families and friends. It functions as well as a placeholder for events such as retreats, private functions, small conferences, reunions, team building, weddings, birthdays, etc. Although steep, there is a rough trail leading down to Taal Lake which you can hike to swim and see the lake from a different perspective. Ataalaya is truly a magical discovery, just 2 hours leisurely drive south from Manila.
I am a friendly, easy going person who enjoys meeting similarly nice people. I would be happy to share my piece of paradise in the Philippines with you. It is a magical place which I am sure you will not be disappointed with.
Alitagtag Batangas is a small town in Batangas province which gives you a real provincial feel away from the noise of big cities. It is just 9 kms from Taal town, with it's heritage homes and beautiful Taal Basilica, Asia's largest Catholic Church and Our Lady of Caysasay chapel and miraculous well. It is just 18 kms from Anilao, which offers the best diving/snorkeling, closest to Manila. It is also just 9 kms away from Mount Maculot's starting point where one can hike the majestic mountain. The local Alitagtag Market is 2.5 kms away and the larger Cuenca Market is 9 kms away.
