Our property is situated in the Natural Park Serra de São Mamede, Alto Alentejo. On our 2 hectares we grow our own vegetables and you will find many trees, like pine, fruit, and olive. From the garden you can view the rustic medieval village of Marvão. During your stay you will be interacting with our animals: 2 dogs, cat, chickens and 2 horses. Except for the horses, they walk free over the terrain. The main house is where we live. Attached to the house there is 1 bedroom with a private entrance. Here you enter a small hallway with a refrigerator, a microwave and some kitchen cutlery. The room is comfortable and has a double queen size bed. It offers a private bathroom and air conditioning / heather. For this bedroom we offer breakfast from 07.30 to 09.30 included in the price. On the property there also is a mobile home, with 2 small bedrooms (1 double bed with topper and 1 single bed), bathroom, kitchenette / living space and a big terrace. This is a complete self service stay, no breakfast included. We would like to inform that the mobile home is about 24 m2. This means the (SCEPTIC) TOILET and shower compartments are SMALL and the inside DOORS ARE 50 CM WIDE AND 180 CM HIGH. The terrace in the front has the same space and offers a big table and relaxing chairs where you can enjoy your meals and sit comfortably. We rent out the room and mobile home either separate or together, this means if you do not book both, it can happen you share the outside area and swimming pool with other guests. Outside is the shared area with the swimming pool, a small kitchenette, BBQ area and shade and sunbathing area. We offer sunbeds and there is a solar shower.

We are a Swiss couple and both have fallen in love with the Alto Alentejo area. My long-standing passion for Lusitano horses and the good wine Portugal provides are also good reasons to settle here. Erich is a trained farmer and handles the outside of the property. I am an interior decorator, so I take care of the decor. The wonderful rustic landscape, the variety of animal and plant life in Alentejo and Extremadura is unique. We like to spoil our guests with local products, help you to find the necessary information for excursions and activities.

Casa das Amoras is located in the middle of the Nature Park Serra de São Mamede. The park has both cultivated and wild parts. The Portugal tourist board set out many wonderful hike tracks that show all the variety of this park, and from our house, you can make beautiful hikes even to Marvão (4 km). Close to us is a riding school where you can take part in group trips for all levels. There are 2 lakes (Póvoa e Meadas & Apartadura) where you can cool off during hot days. Santo António das Areias (2 km) is small, but pittoresque and worth a visit. Here you will also find a small mini mercado. In Portagem (5 km) is an outdoor public swimming pool and there is a very big swimming pool made with the water from the Rio Sever, very cold and refreshing. Portagem also offers a variety of Portuguese restaurants and has a mini mercado. Bigger towns like Portalegre (+/- 20 km) and / or Castelo de Vide (+/- 13 km) offer much history, here you can also find bigger supermarkets. We live only 8 km from the Spanish border where the Extremadura shows more wild nature. The wonderful rustic landscape, the variety of animal and plant life in Alentejo and Extremadura is unique.
