Located among the organic vineyards of Quinta do Vallado, in the Upper Douro, Casa do Rio is a secluded retreat of stunning beauty. An invitation to slow down and experience nature in its purest form. Located between the vineyards and the river, the main house offers breathtaking views over the Douro. Guests can enjoy carefully prepared meals, wine tastings, and a selection of land and river activities, creating a truly unforgettable stay immersed in the landscape. Free WiFi is featured and free private parking is available on site. Every room at this farm stay is air conditioned and is fitted with a TV. You will find a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom with a bidet and shower, with bath robes and slippers provided. There is a shared lounge at the property and wine tasting take place everyday at 17:00. Restaurant are subject to prior reservation. Free use of bicycles is available at this farm stay and the area is popular for cycling and fishing.

In a truly magical location between vineyards and the river, with stunning views over the Douro, Casa do Rio is located in the Upper Douro, in Castelo Melhor, in the North Region, 8 miles from Vila Nova de Foz Côa and 29 miles from Mirandela. During their stay, guests have access to meals, wine tastings, and various activities on land and on the river, such as a spa, hiking, cycling, picnics, wine tastings, canoeing, among others. Casa do Rio has a small restaurant, available only by reservation and exclusively for guests. The kitchen focuses on local and seasonal flavors: vegetables and fruits from the organic garden are used, as well as the best raw materials from the region.
Quinta do Vallado decided to expand its own vineyards and chose the Upper Douro as the most suitable territory to do so. The beauty of the place, its exceptional state of conservation, and the force of nature, combined with its isolation and silence, have such a striking impact that the Ferreira family decided to share this unique setting. This is how Casa do Rio was born, a 10-room unit strategically integrated between the vineyards and the Douro River.
