Welcome to Casa do Cerro da Correia. This country house (36934 / AL) is situated 3 kms from the village of Manteigas, in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, and has a unique view over the Zêzere Glacier Valley. Outside there is a patio for al fresco dining and the gardens extend to a forest where you can go hiking or picnicking. Casa Cerro da Correia has a vegetable garden, with products of mountain agriculture and a young orchard. At Casa Cerro da Correia time runs slowly. This is a place to take a break, enjoy the woods and stretch the nights, with family or friends, around the dining table or a game. The space was built in 1953 by our grandfather, Jose Maria Direito. To maintain this family spirit, the four bedrooms, the living and dining rooms, the two bathrooms and the fully equipped kitchen were designed to make guests feel at home. The house is heated during the winter: there is a fireplace in the living room; a pellets stove in the bedroom hall, on the first floor; all rooms have electric heating systems. In summer, the granite walls keep the house cool throughout the day.

We know intimately the community in which we live and the hiking trails of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. We want to reveal to our guests the secrets of Serra da Estrela, a territory that we love deeply. In all areas of activity of Casa Cerro da Correia - accommodation, experiences and meals - we work towards the sustainability of our actions, not only in the environment, but also in the growth of the company and the development of the region we live in. We have received the Biosphere certification in sustainable tourism, granted by the Responsible Tourism Institute, an organization with a memorandum of understanding with Unesco. We integrate a territory with lots to offer and we wish that those who visit us become part of the unique way of life of Serra da Estrela. Giving visibility and valuing the knowledge and experience of the inhabitants of the region is only possible if our work is genuine, authentic, focusing on local products, the delicate ecosystem of Estrela and the natural and cultural heritage of the community.

Serra da Estrela mountain is a Unesco Geopark since September 2019. The municipality of Manteigas is the only one that has all its territory inside Serra da Estrela Natural Park. The village is located in the Zêzere Glacier Valley and surrounded by a gorgeous natural environment. This combination of factors makes it an ideal place to discover nature, photographing or practicing all kinds of sports (hiking, climbing, road or mountain biking, trail running ...).
