Hi! I’m Sofia, and I have a love story with this house that has been hosting delicious life moments for six generations of Calheiros family and friends. Our best weeks are the ones we spend here. Now, we open you the doors of our beloved house so we can share, listen, and welcome you in the most comfortable “family” style way. Refúgio is where we recharge batteries from our busy life’s in today’s global world - Lisbon, France, Switzerland, Germany, UK, , Singapore, Mozambique, Angola and Brasil - where our professional lives come across in person or virtually. I’m a Psychologist and Executive Coach. Paulo, my husband, is an Engineer and Consultant, our children work in multinational companies around the world. Grandmother keeps us honest with sugar, hugs and remainings from our past. Sal, is the dog that seasons up our days. And this is our home - Refúgio de Calheiros. Welcome!!

What we feel is unique here? Slow living & Nature. You can walk up and down a small farm where ancient trees will give you something to bite from the season: Chestnuts, cherrys, mandarines. You may find some local countryside animal diversity, that we do not hunt (insects and animals)! You can take the sun chair anywhere you like and enjoy a book at your favorite spot. But most of all - here you can be you!

Neighborhood info

Refúgio is a small village and quiet neighborhood. You will have all the supermarkets and convenience stores in just 1km away from the house. At 2km you will have the old city centre of Covilhã and at 11 km uphill you will find the top of wonderful Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela. In Here you can still see the Chapel, our lovely old fountain, a restaurant with good local food, a bakery shop or play some pool in the village club.
