Inspired by the surrounding landscape, Monte da Aferrada was designed to make your visit a unique, comfortable, and relaxing experience. Monte da Aferrada arises from the pursuit of happiness and the search for peace in the countryside.
Monte da Aferrada is born from the pursuit of happiness and the encounter with the peace of the countryside. In the family since at least the 19th century, the Monte da Aferrada, passed down from generation to generation, is a handful of nature and memories that were almost lost in the inertia of time and the bustle of distant city lives
Childhood memories and the desire to keep family memories led Filipa and her husband João Pedro to restore a refuge where they could enjoy the peace of Alentejo with their family. The family quickly became enthusiastic about the idea of reviving family traditions, introducing the younger generation to the experience of country life, and preserving past memories and experiences
The desire to maintain a heritage of five generations, the love for the land and countryside of Great-Grandfather João Felipe, and the childhood memories of Grandfather Zé, led the family to revive these teachings and pass them on to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
This is where the family gathers and where the children learn to tend the plants, feed the animals and listen to the stories that have been passed down from generation to generation
Alpalhão, a small village in the municipality of Nisa, Alto Alentejo, is known for its rich cultural heritage, thermal waters, and traditional crafts, such as pottery and embroidered fabrics.
Once a municipal seat from 1512 to 1855, Alpalhão has retained its identity and traditions. Its serene landscapes are magical year-round: refreshing river beaches in summer, golden fields in autumn, cozy winters by the fire, and vibrant spring blooms.
The region offers stunning hiking trails, like the Jans trails, which lead to the Tagus River and pass historical sites such as Vila Flor. The area also boasts delicious local cuisine, featuring internationally recognized cheeses, sausages (chouriço), and wines.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Conhal Trails to the Portas de Rodão geological monument and birdwatching spots. Relaxation awaits at the Fadagosa de Nisa Thermal Baths, which offer therapeutic treatments.
Alpalhão’s central location provides access to Alto Alentejo’s gems, including Castelo de Vide, Marvão Castle, Nisa’s potteries, and Crato’s historic Pousada.
