We are a young couple with 2 dogs and we have settled in this amazing corner of Central Portugal to realize our dream and live in the fully sustainable low impact natural environment. This includes repairing the land, preserving the nature, renovating the houses and bringing our ideas and designs to life. We really enjoy having guests visit us, at the same time we appreciate that many people just want to escape and find peace in nature. We are completely off-grid, our electrical power is from solar panels and our water is from a natural spring.

Our nearest village of Póvoa de Midões is approx 1.5km by unpaved track (30 minute walk, 10 minute drive) and has a small supermarket and 3 bars. The nearest towns of Carregal do Sal and Tábua are both approx 8km in distance and have supermarkets, and Sunday markets selling fresh local produce. There are many magnificent trails in the area, among them our famous Trilho dos Gaios. The Mata Nacional do Buçaco (Buçaco National Forest) is 1 hours drive from Quinta da Lontra and is a great place for a ramble. Piódão is 1 hr 15 mins by car and well worth the stunning drive into the Serra De Estrela mountains. Its a traditional schist (type of stone) village set on a steeply terraced mountainside. Coimbra is just 45 minutes by car, famous for its university, monuments and buildings, most notable is the renowned Joaninha Baroque library. Viseu is 40 minutes by car and is famous for its medieval city built around the cathedral.
