Starbase18 lda Ecotourism has 4 apartments and is located in the middle of the Serra da Estrela Nature park. Because of this you have direct access to numerous walking/hiking/mountain biking routes, straight into the mountains. On site there are several spots to have a picnic or lay in the grass or hammock to take in the fresh mountain air and relax. The large breakfast room is an indoor space with shared toys and games, for parents to enjoy a long breakfast and kids to entertain themselves. Under the big Lindentree is a kids paradise with sandpit, clover field, swing and climbing rope. Close by there are various opportunities for water entertainment and sports. Your stay will help us to develop and offer our non-profit educational activities and land regeneration projects. As a young family ourselves, we do welcome young families with a warm heart. From first hand we do know how intense a young family can be and how easily parents can drift apart. Our kids workshops and other activities gives parents the opportunity to have some quality time amongst themselves.

Meios is a very small village in the mountains of the Serra da Estrela bordering the village Fernão Joanes. We do have a lot of amenities still, for e.g. 2 cafes and a mini mercado (tiny super market) within 5 min walking distance. In the next town, 20 min walking distance are 2 restaurants, several cafes, two mini mercados, bank, post office. Across the street of Starbase18 lda is one of the cafés where you can get a drink or icecream. The surrounding area consists of an authentic old village with a church from the year 1653. There are the characteristic charming granite houses which intertwine into each other forming a network of cool alleys during summertime. There is the weaving museum in our village that showcases the old tradition of wool weaving of the area and the famous "cobertor de papa" the papa blanket. The capes the pastors use to stay warm while herding their sheep. Being in the middle of the UNESCO natural park of the Serra da Estrela gives the opportunity to explore nature. The park offers a diverse flora and fauna and is recognised as geopark due to its high geodiversity and its age. The entrance of the famous "Passadiços do Mondego" is only 10 min away.
