Villages frozen in time, once imagined by many as a peaceful refuge for old age, have today become highly sought-after destinations for weekend escapes. The less touristy they are, the more they are appreciated. Bezdead, a settlement located halfway between Târgoviște and Sinaia, at an altitude between 450 and 700 meters, is one of these places. Its name means “the village without old people,” though in reality it is a cluster of hamlets populated mostly by the elderly, whose world lies between two valleys: the Ialomița Valley and the Prahova Valley.
