The main entrance from Cetății Street is located directly opposite the Museum of Natural History. Just 50 metres away you will find the Sibiu State Philharmonic, while the beautiful Citadel Park is only a short 2-minute walk, perfect for a relaxing stroll. Cetății Street is officially described by the Municipality of Sibiu as "the most beautiful street in Sibiu." Dating back to the medieval period, it originally served as the connecting road between the city's defensive towers and the fortified wall built between the 13th and 14th centuries, forming part of Sibiu's third line of fortifications. Today, the street continues to captivate visitors with its authentic medieval atmosphere. It is lined by three historic defensive towers: the Arquebusiers' Tower, Potters' Tower, and Carpenters' Tower, the latter two being connected by a remarkable covered wooden gallery. Along Cetății street you can visit: Thalia Hall, built in 1787 by Martin Hochmeister, the founder of the first bookstore in the Romanian lands. This architectural gem is now home to the Sibiu State Philharmonic. The Museum of Natural History, inaugurated in 1895 in an elegant Late Italian Renaissance-style building. The museum houses an impressive collection of more than 1.68 million specimens. Citadel Park, first laid out in 1791 on the site of the former defensive moat and ponds below the southern city walls. Once known as the "Invalids' Promenade," the park was redesigned in its current form in 1928. Today, its main avenue bears the names of distinguished personalities and is one of the most pleasant places for a walk in Sibiu's historic center.
