You may wish to take a boat tour to Golubac Fortress, the region’s pride and joy dating back to the Middle Ages. In summer, swimmers can take to the new beach. The area is also a hotspot for fishing enthusiasts. Hikers too can enjoy several hiking trails. The routes usually wind their way to one of the observation decks overlooking the magnificent Djerdap Gorge, Golubac Fortress, the river Danube and neighbouring Romania. We recommend the observation decks of Ljilljar and Zmajevo gnezdo, giving you a vantage point over the Danube as the Roman legions once had when defending the Empire’s northern frontier. Monastery Tuman is only a stone's throw from Golubac. Legend has it that it is the endowment of Miloš Obilić, the greatest Serbian hero of the Battle of Kosovo. Lepenski vir, an archaeological site dating back 9,000 years, is 40 km away, Viminacium some 50 km and the Ram Fortress some 20 km.
