Alsterfors 23 combines the privacy of your own accommodation with the convenience of a hotel room: bed linen, towels, and toiletries are provided; cleaning is included. This makes the cottage suitable for single overnight stays as well as longer visits. It enjoys a peaceful location on the edge of the forest: simple, rustic, and cozy. The Alsterån River is just a stone's throw away. A rowboat belonging to the house is moored there from July to October. The cottage features a living room, two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom; the beds can be joined to form double beds. There is a veranda attached to the house and a terrace in the garden. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking, cycling, swimming, boating, and fishing – ideal for those seeking nature and tranquility. Alsterfors 23 is located in the heart of the Kingdom of Crystal – between Målerås and Alstermo. The nearby glassworks of Målerås, Kosta, and Orrefors are easily accessible, as are the towns of Nybro, Kalmar, Växjö, and Lessebo.

From the house, you can go on short walks as well as day hikes. You can explore the whole surrounding area by bike. It is about 800 metres to the banks of the Alsterån, the nearest swimming spot. For a longer stay at the swimming lake, we recommend the swimming spots in Alstermo, by the bridge on the access road to the hikers’ hostel, and at Älghultsjön. The latter is a larger swimming lake with a designated swimming area and a jetty in the neighbouring village of Älghult. At Orranäsasjön in Orrefors, there is a picturesquely situated picnic area (Rastplads) where you can enjoy an afternoon coffee or an evening barbecue. For geocachers: There are around 40 caches within a 10 km radius of Alsterfors. Three of these are in the immediate vicinity. You can go fishing in the Alsterån river, which flows through Alsterfors. A fishing licence is required. In the neighbouring village of Alstermo, there is a supermarket and a pizzeria, and Folkets-Hus serves a good lunch. Shopping, cafés and restaurants can be found in Växjö and Kalmar (both 60 km away). Kalmar, situated right on the Baltic Sea, is a charming town with a castle and also serves as a gateway to the island of Öland, where you can enjoy wonderful summer days. Astrid Lindgren Värld in Vimmerby is an absolute must-see for every child; it’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Alsterfors. Kosta is just one of many glassworks in Småland. It’s only about a 25–30-minute drive from Alsterfors. There’s also a designer outlet in Kosta. There is a moose park in the immediate vicinity of Kosta. Åsnens is a stunningly beautiful national park in Småland, about a 90-minute drive south of Alsterfors. It is said that Sweden’s trolls live here. A slightly longer trip, about 2.5 hours by car, takes you to Gränna, on the south-eastern shore of Lake Vättern. Gränna is also known as the ‘home of the red and white candy canes’. It’s a treat for all the senses, especially as the town lies right on the lake.
