This 18th-century cottage called "Kulle's House" is centrally located on Vatuland overlooking the harbor and the sea all the way to the Koster Islands. It is just 150 meters to Strömstad railway and bus station and Cafe Kaffedoppet. The back is secluded with a patio where you can enjoy the tranquility even though you are in the middle of the city. "Kulle" derives from the old man who lived in the house at the beginning of the 20th century. He was a special man who had traveled the seven seas for most of his life, but who ended his days alone in this house. In the 1970s, the cottage was carefully renovated, opened up to the roof ridge, and two sleeping lofts were furnished. The layout is still the same as then, and thanks to the lofts, the cottage is perceived as relatively spacious, even though it is only 40 square meters. The entire house is at the guest's disposal. On the ground floor you find the kitchen, dining area, bathroom, wardrobe and living room with TV and fireplace. The TV is a so-called "smart TV" which means that you can log in with your streaming services in addition to the usual channels. You use your own wi-fi via your mobile. The kitchen is simple but fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle and coffee maker. Of course, there is all the porcelain and cookware you could need. The bathroom is small but complete with a sink, shower and toilet. The larger sleeping loft has three single beds and the smaller has a double bed. There is also a very simple sofa bed on the ground floor. In the outbuilding you find a small grill, firewood and some outdoor equipment. Remember to bring your own sheets, towels and toileteries as we do not provide these. In case you have forgotten, you can buy them att Jysk, located at Oslovägen 50. They are open every day in the week.

Welcome to Kullehuset, our gem on the West Coast! We hope you will enjoy and feel at home in this special little cottage. At the time when "Kullehuset" was built, Strömstad was inhabited by fishermen and sailors. The house was originally a so-called couple's cottage, which meant that the house was divided in half and that each family got 20 square meters each. At the back there was an outdoor toilet and inside each family had their own very simple kitchen. You can really understand how cramped it must have been.
