We are delighted to welcome you to Bredsjö Herrgård, a historic manor and wellness retreat that we proudly took over in 2025. This is our first and only property, and truly a passion project for our family. We live on-site year-round to ensure every guest feels welcomed and at home. Originally from the U.S. and now happily settled in Sweden, we run the manor as a small, family-owned retreat with a personal touch. Erika is a yoga teacher and communications expert, Marc is a fitness and wellness coach. Our son Ian and our rescue dog Rico, help create a warm family atmosphere for all our guests. Here you can expect genuine hospitality, thoughtfully prepared food, and time in nature in a peaceful and historic setting. Our hope is that being here will help you slow down, enjoy nature and feel taken care of during your stay. Welcome to Bredsjö Herrgård, a restored manor from 1903 and a family-run bed & breakfast and wellness retreat in the Swedish countryside. We’re Erika and Marc, originally from California, and we live here year-round with our son Ian and our dog Rico. After years of city life, we created this place for people to slow down, move their bodies, eat well, and enjoy nature. Your stay includes a home-cooked seasonal breakfast. Dinner is not served every evening, but can be arranged for groups of 4+ with 7 days advanced notice. During summer, guests can opt into our family-style dinner on select evenings. More details are available on our website. Guests can enjoy forest trails, private lake access, a wood-fired sauna, a yoga room, and shared creative spaces. We also offer yoga, meditation, breathwork, and fitness or recovery coaching as part of stays or special gatherings. We welcome couples, families, solo travelers, and well-behaved dogs. However you choose to spend your time here, resting, moving, or exploring nature, we’re glad you’re here. To secure your stay, payment for the first night is required at booking. Our nearest neighbors are Bredsjö Blå, famous for producing Sweden’s renowned blue cheese made from sheep's milk. The municipality of Hällefors is home to around 400 lakes and waterways, making it a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. We even offer a rowboat for guest use at nearby Lake Stora Bredsjön. Within walking distance, you’ll find the Finnstigen open-air museum, and just a short drive away is Kindla Nature Reserve, with over 900 hectares of protected forest and 15 kilometers of marked hiking trails. Hällefors also boasts Sweden’s oldest folk park, and the surrounding area offers some of the best mountain biking trails in the country, suitable for all levels. You’re also close to Grythyttan, home to a historic inn, beautiful surroundings, and some of the best ice cream and chocolate in the region at Grythyttans Glass & Choklad.
