Smakrike was the storage halls and the outlet store for the Claudelin family business and here they sold their wares. In the basement you could buy wine from large barrels. ”The Claudelin house”, which is opposite of Smakrike today, was during the 60’s & 70’s a cultural center where you could enjoy art and music. The building is now under development and will be turned in to several dwellings. Smakrike became a grocery shop and then a clothing shop and also a milk shop. 1991 the building was turned in to a restaurant – Kråkan and 2003 Smakrike opened it’s doors for the first time.
Welcome to Ljugarn, one of Swedens first tourist destination. The first tourist found his way here 1887. Already in the beginning of 1900 there was several boarding houses and people traveled here to rest and spend time at the beach much as they do today. Ljugarn has been a trading station since the 1700 century but it was the Claudelin family who really put it on the map. Between 1830 – 1924 the finish family developed Ljugarn and where during this time involved in forestry, limestone quarries and trading at sea on their own ships. The Claudelin family lived in the grand villa opposite of what is Smakrike today.
