The history of Svabesholm stretches back 400 years. It is an estate located near Stenshuvud in Södra Mellby parish, Simrishamn Municipality, in Skåne. Until 1834, the estate served as the residence of a cavalry captain and housed several hundred horses used in the Cavalry. Even today, horses have a prominent place on the estate. In 1996, the current owners, the Thuresson family, acquired Svabesholm and have continuously renovated it since. Today, the estate features a country hotel, café & country kitchen, conference and event facilities, farm shops, and a visitor garden. What makes Svabesholm Kungsgård special is the feeling visitors get of discovering their “own” estate. Here, animals and nature are at the center, and sustainability is a top priority. The estate is self-sufficient in heating through wood-chip heating from its own forest and has solar panels that make it self-sufficient in electricity. On the grounds, the life of the horses blends with our business activities; here you can explore The English Garden, a flourishing, award-winning visitor garden inspired by England, as well as several charming farm shops. Book one of our carefully renovated rooms, with details from another time, offering both double rooms and family rooms in a warm and inviting atmosphere. At the main estate hotel, you’ll find seven rooms, inspired by and named after the surrounding nature, including Ljungheden, Hästhagen, and Blomsteräng. At our Pension, located just 200 meters into the village, you’ll find eight additional rooms, including double and multi-bed rooms. Here you’ll find simpler yet charming accommodations on the first and second floors, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. A breakfast buffet is served in our Café & Lantkök, where during the day you can enjoy a hot lunch, homemade pastries, or hearty sandwiches.
