Welcome to the Guest House at The Mayors Yard, an oasis in a World Heritage Site. A place where modern comforts meet the wings of history and where the proximity to culture is very tangible. The guest house is part of "The Mayors Yard", a plot dating back to when the 1600s were young and where the family, after 12 generations, still lives. Welcome to The Guest House - Part of a World Heritage Site!
We are Benny and Linda and we live in the beautiful Church Village of Gammelstad, the old Luleå which is now also one of UNESCO's fantastic world heritage sites. We live in "The Mayors House", one of the oldest houses in the village dated 1638, and on that lot we have a wonderful guesthouse where we are thrilled to accomodate visitors from all over the world! We hope that we will have the opportunity to meet you some day! :D // Benny & Linda We know that it can sometimes be a little difficult to find information about what to visit, how the buses go, where to buy food and many other questions. Therefore, we have tried to be a little proactive and gathered some information about attractions, bus time tables, restaurants and such as you will find in the courtyard house. Should there be questions that you do not get answers to there, you can of course just to knock on our door, or send us a text message if we are not at home, and we will try to help you as quickly as possible.
In the immediate surroundings you will find all the small red church cottages that are part of UNESCO's World Heritage Site with all the small alleys and streets. Here are the "new" houses and buildings from the early 1800s onwards. Here you will also find one of Sweden's most beautiful churches with an incredible altarpiece that has a fantastic story to tell. The streets in The Church Village are small and sometimes narrow so walking is a recommendation if you want to see a bit of the village. For those of you who live in the Guest House, there is free parking, a thing that may be in short supply for those who otherwise visit the village.
