Tomaj is an idyllic village in the heart of the Karst, offering the perfect starting point for hikers, cyclists, and lovers of fine wine and authentic local cuisine. A scenic trail leads from Tomaj to Sežana, passing vineyards and characteristic Karst landscapes. With prior arrangement, guests can visit the homestead of the Slovenian poet Srečko Kosovel. The 17th-century Church of St. Peter and Paul rises above the village, featuring remarkable frescoes by Tone Kralj. Just 15 km away lie the magnificent Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while nearby Lipica is home to the world-famous Lipizzaner horses.
