Company info

Jerónimo Sebastião Dias da Mota, a São Toméan, has dedicated his life to agriculture since the colonial era. He was the first local to hold the position of feitor (plantation manager) during colonial times and held several roles in the agricultural sector, up to general director of agricultural companies before and after independence. He is now an entrepreneur managing the plantation together with his sons.

Property info

Located in a farm building within the roça of Monte Forte village, surrounded by cocoa plantations, the guesthouse of Mr. Jerónimo Mota is considered one of the first agrotourism sites in São Tomé. This family-run and authentic place offers a warm welcome in both Portuguese and French, in a friendly and local atmosphere. Guests can enjoy traditional meals prepared on request (calulu, cachupa, giant crab…), generous breakfasts served with a sea view, as well as the active involvement of the whole family in hosting visitors. The property offers both older rooms with mountain views and newly built rooms with modern comfort and ocean views.

Neighborhood info

The roça Monte Forte is home to around 250 people. The residents are welcoming and friendly. The roça also hosts the CECAB organic cocoa cooperative center, which can be visited upon request. It is a very quiet area, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, close to the northern beaches and Lagoa Azul, and serves as a starting point for the water tunnel hike leading to Angolares waterfall.
