The Story of Roots: Masar Cave Konak
"The door of a house does not merely open to a street; it opens to the past, to decades of labor, and to the memory of a family."
In the very heart of Cappadocia, directly facing the time defying Ortahisar Castle, lies a sanctuary overlooking uninterrupted history. Masar Cave Konak is not just an accommodation crafted from stone and rock; it is a true home where the Dönmez family natives of this land lived, laughed, honored their elders, and raised their children for generations.
Today, this historical heritage has been brought back to life through the vision of Masar Dönmez, a young entrepreneur determined to keep the memory and name of his ancestors alive. These ancient houses, where Masar grew up at his grandfathers' feet and where every single stone bears the sweat and memories of his family, have been thoughtfully redesigned staying true to their roots while being infused with the finest details of modern luxury. Masar does not only carry forward his family’s name and legacy; he pays his debt to this land by making every guest who steps inside feel as though they are in their own home.

Neighborhood info
What Our Guests Love Most About the Neighborhood
"The moment our guests step into the old Ortahisar Neighborhood, they instantly fall in love with the true, untouched soul of Cappadocia far from the tourist crowds of Göreme or Ürgüp, where time stands still. This is a living, breathing neighborhood where you wake up to the warm greetings of locals and inhale the scent of history as you lose yourself in narrow, ancient stone alleys.
The moment you step outside our mansion, you come face-to-face with Ortahisar Castle, the region's most iconic and largest fairy chimney. Climbing to the top of this colossal castle just a few minutes' walk away to watch the sunset is our guests' most unforgettable ritual.
Local Tips & Places to Explore:
Culture & History: The Ortahisar Ethnography Museum, within walking distance, is a wonderful stop to understand the ancient lifestyle of the region. Additionally, the world-famous Göreme Open Air Museum and the mystical Pancarlık Church are just a 5 to 7-minute drive away and are absolute must-sees.
Dining & Local Flavors: Our neighborhood is home to some of Cappadocia’s most niche and gourmet dining spots. You can savor traditional pottery kebab (testi kebabı) at authentic stone restaurants right beneath the castle, or sample local wines at cozy cafes tucked away in the historic streets.
Hidden Trails: For guests looking to connect with nature, Balkan Valley and Red Valley (Kızılçukur) both begin right near our mansion. They are ideal for hiking among the fairy chimneys and catching a fairytale-like sunset.
This is not just a place to stay; it is an exclusive sanctuary where, instead of observing Cappadocia from the outside like a tourist, you live it from the inside like a local host, right in its oldest neighborhood and very heart."
