I'm Gülgün, and I've been a tourism professional for more than 30 years. For quite some time I have enjoyed the incredible light of home-based working at our home in Ovacik, where Mehmet and I live. Ovacik village is in an idyllic country location in western Turkey with superb views of the Aegean sea and a short drive away to Alacati, a picturesque, lively village famous for its beautifully restored stone houses. We used to live in Alacati for many years before moving to Ovacik. We’re enjoying a balanced life in this beautiful rural area in company with our pets. Being passionate about the food we love to spend time in our kitchen, putting recipes together, visiting our farmer’s market, growing our own vegetables and herbs - it’s all about cooking and sharing. Another part of our personality is that we love to discover different cultures and the hidden gems of our own country. It is more about exploring and learning than traveling and the best part of a vacation is to come home again.

The agricultural area of Ovacık, where our house is located, stretches between Çeşme and Alaçatı. It is still very unspoiled, so we recommend to come with your own car or hire one. The 8 km wide Alaçatı is a hotspot for tourists, especially in July and August. The village, which was still sleepy until a few years ago, is now a center of activity. There are numerous restaurants, clubs, and bars in the village. Çeşme has retained the character of a small village by the sea. There is also plenty to do here: the Genoese fortress, the old town, and some culinary insider tips are located 7 kilometers away.
