Historic Kitty Hawk Cottage w/ Ocean Views As an important part of Outer Banks history, the Coastal Cottage was originally built to stable horses for the Kitty Hawk Lifesaving station in the late 1800's. The horses were used to transport life boats from the boat house to the water and back again when needed. In the mid 1950's, the horse stable was lifted out of the sand and turned into a home, adding two bedrooms, a kitchen, bath, and screened porch at that time. Today, the entire building has undergone major renovations, additions and modernization all while maintaining the original patina of the historic stable. This home is truly unique, a perfect blend of modern historic comfort. Still located exactly where it was originally constructed, the Coastal Cottage sits right on the West side of the beach road providing unobstructed ocean views that can be seen throughout the home on the middle and top level! The public beach access is just 175-feet away. There is parking space for three vehicles in the driveway and covered parking beneath the carport. Unwind in the bubbly hot tub that sits shaded under the home, perfect for an afternoon soak after a long day of playing in the waves.
