The Alaskan Wild Rose Retreat was not only named after the beautiful wild roses that grow on the property, but also after the wild Rose women of my family….my granny Rose always encouraged me to chase my dreams and never forget my wild Rose roots. She loved gardening and inviting family and friends to her home; passions that were passed down to her favorite granddaughter!
My first visit to Alaska was in 2005. I instantly fell in love and returned many times to explore the mountains, rivers and trails. My heart always brought me back to Talkeetna; a quirky little community that just always felt like home. In 2020 I made the decision to follow my heart and move to Alaska. So this Texas gal packed up and headed north. It has been an amazing adventure so far and I’m excited to continue to share my love for Alaska!
Talkeetna is known for its amazing views of the Alaska Range and also for the beautiful rivers that flow around it. Our little town is rich in Alaskan history from the Dena’ina Athabskan tribes that inhabited the area long before we started settling here in the mid 1800s. Gold miners, railroad workers and trappers developed Talkeetna into the quirky little town that it is today.
