Property info

Built in 1847, The Eliza Thompson House offers visitors a private, peaceful retreat just a short walk from Savannah's historic attractions. The Eliza Thompson House consists of 12 rooms in the "main house" and 13 rooms in a "carriage house", which overlooks the courtyard. One of the most enchanting Savannah boutique hotels, the inn includes a brick-paved garden courtyard and beautiful moss-draped trees. It is located on beautiful Jones Street, just a block away from Mrs. Wilkes famous restaurant and a short walk to Forsyth Park. Enjoy Savannah's charm during the day, and spend your evenings relaxing in The Eliza Thompson House's private courtyard. Lush greenery and moss covered crepe myrtle trees compliment the courtyard's focal point: a flowing Ivan Bailey fountain. Japanese koi grace a small pool at the base of the fountain, and delightful benches, tables, and chairs tucked into corners provide several places for you to enjoy a slow paced afternoon in Savannah.

Neighborhood info

Lined by massive live oak and magnolia trees, the world-famous, brick-paved Jones Street will charm you with its elegant old homes, including the Eliza Thompson House. Much of the original brick has been replaced over the years, but in some areas the original brick and pavers remain. Visitors will find a multitude of interesting shops and antique stores within walking distance of The Eliza Thompson House. Many of the shops around the Inn are a part of The Downtown Design District, a collection of high-end shops and art galleries which specialize in everything from fine linens to local art. You'll also find restaurants like Mrs. Wilkes and Clary's Cafe, both Savannah traditions, right on Jones Street. Forsyth Park, The Mercer House and The Green Meldrim House are all located within a block or two of the Inn.
