The neighborhood Perched along the Sonoma Coast, The Sea Ranch is a nature lover's paradise -- think tidepools, wildflower meadows, and redwood groves at your doorstep. Nearby highlights include community heated pool (North) (a short 5-minute walk), Shell Beach tidepools (6-minute drive), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (6-minute drive). Between the coastal trails, tidepools, heated pools, and The Sea Ranch Lodge's restaurant, you could fill a week without leaving the community. For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south. Getting around The drive from San Francisco is approximately 2.5 hours via Highway 101 to Highway 1. Fly into Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east, and rent a car. The Highway 1 drive along the coast is spectacular and worth building into your travel day. Other things to note The family dog is welcome (one dog max) This home does not have air-conditioning Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. Visit in spring and the meadows explode with wildflowers. April through June is peak bloom season along the Sonoma Coast. The warmest months are June through September. Expect coastal fog most mornings that gives way to sunny afternoons. Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.
