Patrick and McCabe have been visiting the North Shore for decades and love everything about it! In 2012, during one of their ski trips to Lutsen Mountains, they discovered a well-known, Chalet A-Frame built in 1968 located on the mountain. After purchasing the chalet in 2012, Patrick and McCabe’s love for the North Shore grew even stronger. It was May of 2019 when they packed up their belongings and made Lutsen, Minnesota their forever home. The A-Frame’s location was built in what was intended to be a “Chalet” village. The idea didn’t come to fruition, until now that is! With 4 Scandinavian Chalets opened in 2023 and more on their way. At Ski Hill Cabins and Saunas Patrick and McCabe’s love for the North Shore is met with their appreciation for thoughtfully designed and unique spaces. Designed by Carl Gauley of GraySpace Architecture, the new Scandinavian Chalets have many of the same characteristics as the original Chalet.

The Scandinavian inspired architectures embrace 1400 square feet of luxurious comfort, panoramic forest vistas and the perfect blend of rustic North Shore and relaxation. Home to you and up to 9 of your friends and family, the cabins are designed with space to socialize, unwind and dine, rejuvenate in the private sauna, or relax at the campfire. Lutsen’s Ski Hill Cabins and Saunas set the bar for location, flexibly formatted, one-of-a-kind, worry free vacationing. We have four Scandinavian cabins total, each of which have their own private sauna building in a different traditional nordic stain color including Red, Blue, Green and Grey. Cabins include: 1. Large open concept living space with full kitchen, dining area and living room and gas fireplace 2. Main bedroom with California King bed and balcony 3. Second bedroom with Queen over Queen bunk beds 4. Loft with 2 Full sized beds (loft is accessible by ladder) 5. Private Sauna 6. Private firepit and barbeque 7. Three free parking spaces 8. We are located along the North Shore in Lutsen, Minnesota where our backyard is marked by the Sawtooth Mountains and her majesty Lake Superior is in our front yard. The North Shore is chock full of waterfalls, rivers, and inland lakes surrounded by endless miles of hiking trails, biking trails, cross country ski trails, and snow mobile trails interwoven throughout the land. Lutsen is home to the largest ski resort in the Midwest and 20 minutes away from Grand Marais.
