Property info

This is the historic Brower House. It was owned by Jacob Brower of Browerville Minnesota. He owned the mansion a few blocks away from this residence, sold that mansion in 1923 after he had this house built 75 feet from the Mississippi River. He was the father of the Minnesota park systems, and there is a Brower welcome center built in his name at the mouth of the Mississippi on lake Itaska. He wanted his 2 children to grow up next to the river and sold most of the property to St. Cloud State to finish their land acquisitions to finish the college. Back then they called St. Cloud state St. Cloud Normal College. He was hoping his kids would attend that school.
