The Icelander is a renovated 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom end-unit condo at Mammoth Point sleeping up to 10 guests. Bedroom 1 has a king Casper mattress, Bedroom 2 a king Novafoam with personal coffee station, Bedroom 3 a queen Novafoam, and Bedroom 4 is a queen-over-queen bunk room with memory foam, PS5, and workspace. Every bedroom has its own thermostat, 55" Samsung TV, blackout drapes, ceiling fan, and in-closet vanity. The main level features a 75" Frame TV with Sonos ERA 300 speaker, a sunken conversation pit with gas fireplace and banquette seating, and dining for 8 plus 4 at the counter. The kitchen has a gas stove with dual ovens, plus a coffee bar (Keurig, drip, French press, pour-over), cocktail bar, and tea station. Dual-zone heating and AC with whole-house humidifier. Walk-in shower upstairs, shower/tub combo downstairs with Beekman 1802 toiletries. 1 Gbps WiFi with dual access points. Level 2 EV charger (30A, AmpedUp! app). 10-person covered community hot tub open noon–9 PM. Ski recovery kit with Theragun. Free on-site parking.
We're a family of five who bought this condo because we wanted a mountain home that actually works for the way families and friend groups travel together. We've renovated the entire unit with that in mind every bedroom has its own thermostat and vanity because we got tired of fighting over the bathroom mirror, and we put the bunk room on the lower floor instead of a loft so kids have their own space and adults can actually have a conversation upstairs. We kept the original 70's conversation pit because it's too good to lose, upgraded the fireplace to gas so nobody has to deal with smoke and kindling, and stocked the place with things we'd want after a long ski day a Theragun, stretching bands, a proper coffee bar, and a cocktail setup. We chose quality mattresses (Casper and Novafoam), good toiletries (Beekman 1802), and reliable tech (1 Gbps WiFi, Sonos speaker, Frame TVs). We also installed the only Level 2 EV charger in the complex because we drive electric and hated having to go to the Supercharger. We want our guests to feel like they're staying at a friend's well-thought-out mountain home, not a generic rental.
Mammoth Point sits high on the mountain at a higher elevation than Canyon Lodge, giving you panoramic views of peaks and pines and the practical benefit of being above the smoke layer that settles over lower Mammoth when everyone lights their fireplaces at night. Our street is closed to through traffic, so you won't find cars lined up and down the road like on Lakeview Blvd, Rainbow Ln, or Canyon Blvd it's noticeably quieter. Canyon Lodge is a 15-minute walk or 3–7 minute drive depending on whether the top of Davidson Rd is open. You can skip the lodge parking fee by dropping everyone off and walking back, or by walking the whole way down John Muir and up Davidson. Advanced skiers and riders can walk 5 minutes up John Muir Rd, ski down through the trees to Canyon Lodge, and ski back via glading near Bluejay at the end of the day. Everything else in Mammoth Lakes groceries, restaurants, the Village, other lodges is within a 10-minute drive. Despite feeling like you're really up in the mountains rather than in a subdivision with extra trees, you're never far from anything you need.
