Built in 1907 as the private residence of Henry Fries Shaffner, the co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust, this extravagant Victorian-style mansion boasts Tiger oak hand-carved paneling, original coal-burning fireplaces, a grand staircase and priceless antiques. This 8-bedroom bed and breakfast is perfect for quiet nights away or corporate and private events. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, it is walking-distance to a multitude of the city’s best restaurants, bars and shops. The Shaffner has retained historic charm while expanding to include modern amenities such as free WiFi, 43” smart, flat-screen TVs, alarm/clock and USB charging stations. Each room is outfitted with luxurious Matouk linens, duvets, pillows, robes and monogrammed towels, as well as Peacock Alley blankets and monogrammed pillows. For your convenience, we also provide complimentary face wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. In addition, you will have access to comfortable common areas indoors and outdoors, as well as a private parking lot.
I have been an owner and manager of properties in Winston-Salem, NC for over 15 years. My family has lived in the area for generations, and I have a passion for restoring historic properties and making them short-term homes for people visiting the area. I love this city and am grateful for the opportunity to bring life into old homes and a boost to our local economy. I recently acquired the historic Shaffner House Bed and Breakfast in downtown Winston-Salem and am very excited to bring its unique charm to travelers across the world.
