Grant's pre-civil war home which was vacant and deteriorating. They immediately began the task of restoring its historic splendor and incorporating discretely "hidden" modern amenities. After one year the restoration and modernization process was complete. To their surprise, on October 17th, 2022, the city of Galena presented them with the "Galena Historic Preservation Award. The mayor told the couple, "The city appreciates the care that you have taken in restoring the home. It is an important community asset." You may notice that the city historic tour trolley stops in front of the house several times a day.

Grant's historic residence sits at the crest of the hill overlooking Galena's Historic downtown. Follow the same three block stairway descent that Grant took every day to easily access downtown.
