The neighborhood Stretching along ten miles of the Sonoma Coast, The Sea Ranch offers a rare blend of coastal wilderness and thoughtfully designed homes. Nearby highlights include Shell Beach tidepools (10-minute walk), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (11-minute walk), Black Point headland trails (3-minute drive). Explore over Sea Ranch's 50 miles of trails, discover tidepools at low tide, swim in heated community pools, and end the day with dinner at The Sea Ranch Lodge. For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south. Getting around Sea Ranch is about 2.5 hours north of San Francisco -- take Highway 101 to Highway 1 for one of California's most scenic coastal drives. The nearest airport is Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, roughly 90 minutes east. A car is the way to go for exploring the area. Other things to note Water views * Good to know: the owner lives in main house. Please do not disturb. Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. Whale watching season runs from December through April -- grab the binoculars and watch for gray whale spouts from your window. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday. Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.
