Husband and Wife team Aruna and Michel bought the property in 2016. Originally built as a farmhouse, the house has been extended over time adding 3 spacious rooms, all with private bathrooms and their own entrance, while still retaining the sense of a family home. Following a substantial renovation all rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished and redecorated and we now look forward to sharing our little piece of paradise set in the unspoiled African bush. With a maximum of 4 visitors at any time you are ensured of personal attention and service.

Set in the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve, Adonsonia Lodge is a small family run Guest House. Originally built as a farmhouse, the house has 3 spacious rooms, all with private bathrooms and their own entrance, while still retaining the sense of a family home. With a maximum of 4 visitors at any time you are ensured of personal attention and service. Our resident Bushbuck graze on the lawn and a troupe of Vervet monkeys sleep in the trees at night. Over 50 bird species have been seen at the lodge. The thatched porch provides stunning views over the koppie with regular wildlife sightings and our small pool is a welcome place to cool off from the heat. Our guest living room has a small library and a collection of interesting objects found around the lodge, inviting you to learn more about the bush. In the evening meals (booked in advance) are served on the patio under the stars, and in winter a large firepit provides extra coziness. And of course there is a braai! We offer game drives over the reserve and to Kruger National Park. Tea, Coffee, Water, Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included. Dinners can be booked with your stay or with 48h advance notice.

Grietjie Nature Reserve is part of the Greater Kruger Area. The reserve is open to the Kruger Park which means that wildlife is free to come and go into the reserve from and to the Kruger National Park. The Phalaborwa Gate into Kruger National Park is an easy 30 minute drive from the Lodge. Phalaborwa is the closest town with a limited selection of shops and restaurants.
