Located along the “Golf Coast”, just 0.6 mi from the Southbroom’s Main Beach, Coral Tree Colony Bed & Breakfast is surrounded by a tropical garden and a spacious terrace. The air-conditioned rooms feature soft, neutral colors and a private terrace overlooking the gardens, the golf course and the Indian Ocean. They come with a flat-screen TV, tea-and-coffee-making facilities and a small fridge. Coral Tree Colony offers free Wi-Fi in public areas as well as free secure parking onsite. In the morning, guests can enjoy a South African breakfast. We 'purpose-built' Coral Tree Colony as a Guest House so that guests would be able to enjoy all the comforts of home and would still be able to retreat to their own private rooms. The house has become a landmark in Southbroom and blends in with the special attributes of this amazing little village - tucked away at the bottom end of KZN - just 25 minutes away from the Wild Coast. Southbroom was described by a guest as "like a jungle with houses in it"! Coral Tree was built with the sub-tropical climate in mind, hence the deep verandahs which wrap around the building. The whole project was a family affair with daughter Fryth as a partner and daughter Emma as the architect and interior designer.
Guests are usually welcomed by Dave - except on Saturdays when he enjoys his favourite pastime - golf! They also get to see him when he serves their breakfast in the mornings. Liz is the voice on the other end of the phone and taps out the emails. Very much a backroom girl. Having retired from the restaurant business - Dave the Chef and Liz was 'Front of House' and spent a couple of years doing very little, they both decided it was time to get back to work. And so Coral Tree Colony came into being.
