Your hosts, Rolandie and Marius, have lovingly transformed what was once a humble "junk-yard" into a vibrant, one-of-a-kind space filled with character and stories. Our home is a testament to the power of imagination and second chances. From hand-me-downs and broken bits to treasures salvaged from dumpsters, we breathe new life into forgotten objects. With Rolandie’s flair as a self-taught artist and homemaker, and Marius’s hands-on experience through his rubbish-dumpster business, we work as a team to turn the overlooked and discarded into the beautiful and functional. Armed with a little paint, creativity, and a collection of odds and ends, even an old piece of wood can be transformed into something timeless. We’re drawn to the broken and cast aside—not to discard, but to revive. We believe that true beauty lies in the ordinary, and that everything has the potential to become something meaningful. As Dr. Seuss so perfectly said: “It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become.” Over 70% of the furniture and décor at Hello Sunshine are upcycled pieces—each with its own past, lovingly reimagined for a new purpose. "Hello Sunshine" is in a relaxed quiet suburban area. It is perfect as a base to explore Mpumalanga as a tourist or on a business trip. In South Africa it is advisable to rather make use of a taxi service than walk even though we are close to the mall and restaurants especially when it's dark.
