19 kilometres from Howick, in the peaceful Karkloof valley, you will find the Hideout, a brand new purpose built cabin with expansive views of nature through the large glass doors. This one bedroom, two sleeper, features an open plan living room and kitchen, with an indoor fireplace, a gas hob, electric oven, fridge as well as all small appliances. The bedroom has a queen bed with a desk, adjoining the bathroom with a shower. Outside takes you to your private patio with a braai and plentiful firewood, all situated within our own private 78 ha property. The building is clad in unusual passivated steel, which in certain light, exudes rainbow colours. Good WiFi will keep you connected with the outside world - should you wish!
We have had the privilege of living here for thirty years, raising two lovely children and many Great Danes over the past! Should you be a bird watcher, or if you haven't seen the Milky Way for a while, this is your place to be.
The Karkloof is well known for its excellent biking trails through the well maintained Sappi forests (all 200 kilometres of them for the fittest!). The Karkloof Club hosts polo and dressage events annually. Popular running events also take place in the area. The Conservation Centre is nearby with excellent bird hides, where the chances of seeing all three cranes (Grey, Wattled and Crowned) are good. If you aren't up for all that, you can take leisurely strolls on the property. The Karkloof and Howick Falls are also worth a visit.
