Hello! We're the family behind Marle' Lodge, and we've been welcoming guests to our corner of Germiston since 2005. What started as a small B&B has grown into a place people return to year after year - and the returning faces are honestly our favourite part of hosting. There's nothing quite like seeing a guest who first came for a work trip arrive back with their family for a weekend. Day to day you'll be looked after by Tania and our small team, who love a good chat at check-in, know exactly how you take your coffee by day two, and will happily point you to the best local spots - from the aviation museums at Rand Airport to where to find a proper plate of food nearby. Light the braai, pull up a chair at the bar, and make yourself at home - because that's exactly what we want this to be: your home away from home.

We treat every guest like family - that's been the Marle' Lodge way since 2005. Your beautifully finished en-suite room has its own private entrance, so you can come and go as you please, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a smart TV loaded with Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and OpenView channels waiting for you. Every room has a bar fridge, microwave and tea and coffee facilities with crockery and cutlery, plus an in-room safe and a workspace with USB and standard plug points - handy if you're here for business or training. Our self-catering units add a full kitchen with oven, stove and toaster, ideal for longer stays, and our family unit sleeps up to four with a double bed and bunk beds. Travelling as a group? Two of our rooms share a private passage with a lockable door, so you can stay together with privacy from the rest of the lodge. Evenings are what our guests remember: sundowners at our licensed bar, a braai crackling in the lapa, and quiet Highveld skies from the patio. And the things that usually go wrong in Gauteng don't go wrong here - solar power and borehole water keep your lights on and your shower hot, whatever the municipality is up to, while secure parking with guards on site lets you sleep easy. Uncapped fibre WiFi reaches every room and outdoor corner, so you're always connected. We're 100 metres off the N3, 5 minutes from Alrode and Wadeville, and 15 minutes from OR Tambo, with a lovely park right next door and everyday essentials just across the road. Golf courses, malls and restaurants are minutes away, and we're happy to point you to the area's gems - from aviation museums at Rand Airport to day trips further afield. Whether you're here for a night's work or a weekend's rest, our small team - led by Tania, whom you'll meet in our reviews - will make sure it feels like your home away from home.

Albemarle is a quiet, established residential suburb - guests often tell us how peaceful it feels for somewhere just 100 metres off the N3. Right next door is a lovely public park with an outdoor gym and children's playground, perfect for a morning jog or letting the kids stretch their legs. Directly across the road you'll find a filling station, convenience store, Wimpy and bank ATMs, so everyday essentials are a two-minute walk away - and there's a restaurant within walking distance for nights you don't feel like driving. The area's hidden gem is Rand Airport, five minutes from us, home to the SAA Museum and Civil Aviation Museum - you can even book a scenic flight in a vintage aircraft. Nature lovers have Germiston Lake, Rondebult Bird Sanctuary and Gillooly's Farm close by, while Rietvlei Zoo Farm (20 minutes) is a family favourite with its animal farmyard, train rides, picnic lapas and mountain-bike trails. Golfers can choose from several courses in the area, including Reading Country Club, and there are cycling, running and hiking trails, tennis courts and gyms nearby - including a Virgin Active a short drive away. Within 20 to 30 minutes you can be at Gold Reef City and the Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, the James Hall Museum of Transport, Emperors Palace, or on a guided Soweto tour - and the Gautrain from Germiston station makes a car-free day out to Sandton, Rosebank or Pretoria easy. In summer, Wild Waters waterpark in Boksburg is 20 minutes away for a day of slides and wave pools. Restaurants, supermarkets and shopping malls of every size are all a short drive away. Whether you're after a quiet evening walk in the park or a full day of exploring, this corner of the East Rand delivers more than most people expect - and we love helping guests plan their day, so just ask.
