Marula Cottage is a 10-minute drive from Thabazimbi in the Limpopo Province. The thatched farmhouse offers views of the Waterberg Mountains and is located 4.3 mi from the Marakele National Park. Each air-conditioned room is decorated in neutral tones and features a patio with mountain views. It comes equipped with a mini-bar and tea-and-coffee-making facilities. The private bathroom includes a shower with free toiletries. Breakfast is served daily at Marula Cottage and dinners can be arranged on request. We are set on the side of a mountain, with views of the bushveld and near by mountains. We are lucky enough not to have views of the town itself, giving us a great night view too, without the town lights. We are also 2 km (on a dirt road, which can't be driven with a sports car, 4x4 is not necessary) from the Marakele road, so you get to enjoy the peace of the bush, and sound of birds, insects, and even the roar of lions at night.
Monika and Dave met in Thailand in 2003, and have been in South Africa since 2006. Dave is a returning South African, and Monika is German. We have both travelled extensively, Monika is German, and has visited Central and North America, South East Asia, Africa and Australia. Dave has visited Asia, Australia, Europe and travelled Southern Africa for over 2 years. We are both more than happy to share our experience and recommendations on most parts of this lovely country. We are animal lovers and share our environment with our fury family of 5 free roaming, friendly dogs.
Apart from Marakele National Park, which is only 6 km away, and Pilanesberg Game Reserve, the local area is rich in game farms and wilderness areas. The drive over Rankins Pass takes you on a beautiful trip through the mountains and between these farms and parks with some great opportunities to see game from the roadside, and even more spectacular views and vistas.
