Straw Hat offers the opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of of life and reconnect with peace and quiet, while being surrouunded by 2.5ha of trees, birds and beautiful views. We offer guests a choice of 2 private, upstairs rooms, each accommodating 2 guests with ensuite bathrooms, private access, a balcony and stunning views. Each room has a Smart TV with OpenView decoder, free wifi, a bar fridge as well as tea and filter-coffee making facilities. A Continental or hot breakfast is included in the room rate. Secure parking is provided. The property is set below Otto's Bluff, just outside Pietermaritzburg, with extraordinary bird's eye views over Albert Falls Dam, the Karkloof Mountains and the Umgeni Valley. Seeing is believing! Our mission is to provide a friendly, guest-focused service, ensuring guests enjoy a restful stay, whether overnighting for business or longer for a well deserved break.
We are interested in sharing our unique home set below Otto's Bluff, overlooking some spectacular views. Our goal is to provide guests with a private, quiet, restful stay away from home, a short drive away from Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands.
A short drive from Pietermaritzburg and you are in the countryside surrounded only by peaceful private games reserves and small farms comprising the Umgeni Valley. There is fishing and boating available on the Albert Falls Dam, with many cyslists cycling into the somewhat challenging but beautiful valley below the property. The Midlands Meander with its arts and crafts and restaurants is a short drive away for a day out exploring the area. Durban, Umhlanga and their restaurants and beaches are also easily accessible for a day out.
