The whole town is in the middle of nowhere, even by Finnish standards. But then again, this is probably the appeal :) There is a train stop though on the Helsinki-Kuopio-Oulu line for Paltamo, which is about a 10 minute walk prom the property. There are big stores and a petrol station too nearby, and of course the river and the lake, which are beautiful. You can swim too, if you want. The property is a large and fairly luxurious private home by appearance, divided into some private bedrooms and generously large common areas, like kitchen and bathroom. All very clean at the time of my visit.

The place was expectionally cozy. And the backyard was beautiful and relaxing. The room we stayed in was very neat, had it's own coffee maker, kettle, microwave oven and a small fridge and even a sink with a water tap. The Two quality beds could be combined for a queen-size bed and a the room had a large table with two nice chairs. The kitchen was big, and had everything you could need. The bathrooms were very big and clean and had nice showers. Overall the place exceed all our expectations and the owner even recommended everything a young couple in their mid-twenties would want to see and do in the city.

Majatalo Varis is located in Vaala. The inn has a sauna, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. All rooms in the inn are equipped with a flat-screen TV.

Featuring free bikes, Haikolan talo is set in Lipinlahti and also provides a private beach area and a terrace. Guests can enjoy garden views.

Everything was perfect; the cabin itself, the view, the peaceful surroundings. Electric sauna was good, I wouldn't have time or energy to heat up a woodburning one.
