CanadaLocation! History! and Amazing Staff. We were so thrilled to stay at the Merchant for the proximity to everything. And how cool to stay in one of the well known historical buildings in all of Salem!! I cannot speak more highly of the staff who were so attentive and helpful pre-arrival and then through our stay. They are not on site in the evenings (after 5pm) and there are not elevators if that's something you require.

The room was big, very very clean. Lots of little thoughtful touches: a full size soap dispenser with pump, coffee machine with creamer, different teas, a couple of water bottles, lots of places to put and hang your things, lots of electric outlets.
We enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the waterfall.
Right across the bridge there's a nice tavern that serves cocktails and excellent brick oven pizza.
I think it's now my favourite inn in the Amherst area.

This is a wonderful traditional New England hotel/inn located right on the water on Pidgeon Cove. The views are beautiful. The room was excellent. The breakfast was exceptional and far above the standard hotel "free breakfast." The location is handy to the "downtown" of Rockport and Bearskin Neck.

We ate breakfast at the inn and were very pleased. We also dined at the restaurant for dinner and had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants some quiet time for R&R!

Exceeded our expectations! Property is absolutely adorable with extremely comfortable rooms and cozy deck places to enjoy the property! Spencer, our host, went over and beyond to welcome us and make sure our stay was perfect! He made a special, delicious breakfast every morning! Very walkable and there was a parking space for our car! Don’t hesitate at all! Book a room at this Inn!!! You won’t regret! It was the BEST part of our trip!

This inn met all of our needs... The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional, and the location was perfect - close to the metro station and all that Harvard Square has to offer. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, tea, & water, and the downstairs lounge had a refrigerator where guests could store perishable items, as well as a microwave, toaster, and tables & chairs. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this wonderful inn.

The Inn was very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Lots of parking spaces. Did not use the pool but had both indoor and outdoor pools. Staff were lovely and friendly. Despite some other shortcomings, the friendly staff and cleanliness of the room was most important.

Our Hosts Matt and Kelly were lovely, very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect, everything within easy walking distance. Our bedroom, the Washington room, was perfect. We loved the historic aspects of the Inn.
