This hotel is tucked away in a pedestrian area of the Jinma Biji Archway in the Wuhua district. This means you are very close to Nanping Street and the Old Kunming area. Its an area with tons of restaurants, street food, shopping and in general a great vibe. The staff speak very little English but communication is possible with Wechat translation... much better than Google translate (which makes alot of ridiculous mistakes). The girls at the desk go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and cared for... Lily even escorted us to a local restaurant for Over the Bridge noodles. We were in a suite with a lovely balcony that overlooked the shops directly beneath us, it was was very quiet in the mornings and evenings. The suite was large and the bed very comfortable. the bathroom facilities were very good with a bidet toilet and strong water pressure. They provide a kettle for tea or coffee and a tiny cold box for keeping drinks or fruit cold. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, because Asian style meals in the morning was not to our taste. We preferred to buy yogurt and delicious blueberries and had our breakfast on the balcony. There is also a lovely bakery "Just Hot" on Nanping Street if you "need" western style breads etc. Their coffee place next to the reception on the 3rd floor has good coffee and the hotel provides you with a welcome voucher for tea and cheescake and discounted coffee. They also have pizza if thats your thing. All in all Latosol hotel is a perfect place for exploring Kunming.
