The room was very good, simple, clean, big bathroom which is a bonus (if you are lucky with room selection, as first room had smaller one). The breakfast was nice, had good variety, no hot food but perfect for our needs. Very nice and polite staff, always accommodated for our requests and extensions. Location is perfect, 2 mins from the main station. Highly recommend.

Everything. I used to stay a lot for business in the Hyatt. Now I am retired and handicapped, so I have to be more frugal with our money. And the Hilton surprised me with its value, comfort and friendliness.

State Museum Mainz

This comprehensive museum tells the story of Mainz, from the Stone Age right up to the present day. It’s home to an amazing array of artefacts, including prehistoric weaponry, medieval sculptures and Art Nouveau pieces. You’ll even find modern art by Pablo Picasso, Max Liebermann and Max Slevogt.

Excellent art nouveau section including furniture, glass and ceramics. Amazing porcelain collection including pieces showing the stages of construction, decoration and glazing. Very varied art collection. In all the kind of place with something to interest most people, not just museum hounds like myself. Unfortunately, as i have found several times in my travels in german speaking lands, the security people can occassionally be a little over zealous: in the art nouveau section a man named Friedrich dogged my every step making me very uncomfortable. Even when I tried to lose him by doubling back he tried to follow me, at one stage blocking the door. As I remarked to one of the other staff he made me realise what black people experienced when shopping. Unfortunately a small minority of staff in these places believe that their customers should all be treated as potential shoplifters or vandals, thus spoiling what should be a pleasant experience.
